Paintings by Father Paul Plante
Father Paul Plante was a resident of Winslow, Maine where he had been pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish since 1993. He earned his BFA from Maine College of Art and had degrees in philosophy and theology from the University of Montreal and St. Paul’s University in Ottawa. Father Plante had numerous solo and group exhibitions at galleries throughout Maine and the country, including the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Bates College Museum of Art in Lewiston, Colby College Museum of Art in Waterville, Mixed Greens in New York, and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. Father Plante believed that his art was very close to his own life in that it is “focused and reflective”. Seeing “mystery everywhere” he hoped to share his vision of discovery through his paintings: “When the result in another person is joy or awe or wonder, it makes it all worthwhile.”
